Safala was born out of our love for nature
It’s autumn...gazing through the large windows of the house, the forest resembles a large carpet, with masterfully-coloured patterns basking in the sun’s rays... Upon the slightest breath of wind, leaves fall lightly, one by one, thus covering the ground. Just now, as I am writing, I realise that, in my 30 years of life, the moments when I literally managed to glance at autumn’s beauty were so rare... All in good time, however... This wonderful view inspires me to share with you the project we are working on.
I have not always lived in the countryside, nor have we been farmers from generation to generation, but we did love nature ever since I live and breathe, I have always adored flowers and have always bought from local producers, since their fruit and vegetables would always have a different taste. They say you can’t fail if you listen to your heart. We did just that. My thoughts were just revolving around the question “what if, in a world which tends to be more and more uncertain, you could create something secure, sustainable and healthy for yourself and for your loved ones?”
Young and old, we settled in a mountain village in Bihor county, with the intention of growing our own food, by ourselves.
The land we bought would stretch over an area of around 14 ha, so that we tried to get a European project approved.
The idea of growing raspberry and nuts was almost instantaneous, thanks to the geographical position of the village we are currently in.
So, we find ourselves today with an approved European project, and this is where the adventure actually begins.
I hope I managed to catch your attention, since I will proceed with elaborating, here, on both the challenges, and the blessings which we have encountered...so...to be continued...
